Eye Diseases/ Ophthalmology

At the Eye Diseases Departments of PARKHAYAT Hospitals Group in addition to the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases of children and adult patients, contact lens and eye glasses practices are also applied with latest technologic facilities in world standards.

Refraction Defects

Images of light and objects reach to the vision point at retina by being refracted at transparent layer (cornea) and lens layer of eye. For a normal eye rays that come from out side provide clear vision after refracted at cornea and lens.

With refraction defect disorders may occur at cornea, lens, retina oroptic nerve. Individuals with refraction defect should be examined annually for eye and eye ground.

Most significant manifestations of refraction defects are insufficient vision, pain at eyes and discomfort. Lack of far vision (myopia), lack of near vision (hypermetropia), differences in horizontal or vertical vision of eye (astigmatism) and disorder of near vision due to aging (presbyopia).

There are various alternatives to provide clear vision for people with refraction defects. Refraction defects may be fixed with suit able eye glasses lens orexcimer laser treatment. With eye examination retina decollement, hypertension, brain tumor and manifestations related to various diseases may be defined.

Glaucoma and Treatment (EyeTension)

Glaucoma occurs as a result of increase in pressure inside the eye because of the insufficient excretion of the fluid of the eye due to structural obstruction of the canals that excrete the fluid. Increased eye pressure gives damage to the optic nevre and causes death of the nerve. Increase of eye tension with out any manifestations is a disease that may cause sudden blindness. Blurry vision, severe eye pain, headache, nausea, vomiting and moiré vision are among signs of glaucoma.

Regular eye examinations done by your doctor is the most effective way of identifying Glaucoma. Vision loss due to Glaucoma is irreversible. Drop treatment, laser surgery (argon laser) and surgical interventions are performed in order to avoidfurtherloss. Analyticmethodsforevaluatingthestatus of opticnerveare Optical CoherenceTomography (OCT), NerveFibber Analyzer (NFA), cornealpachimetryandcomputerizedfield of vision.

Cataractand Treatment (Facoemulsification)

Cataract is loss of transparency of natural lens present inside of the eye. Its occurrence depends on age at a rate of 90% but may be seen in every age group including babies. Loss of vision without pain, glare or increased light sensitivity, pale or yellowish colour vision, loss of night vision is frequent manifestations of cataract.

Only treatment of cataract is surgery. At our hospitals cataract surgery is performed by FAKO (facoemulsificaiton) method which is the latest developed method at world. Quality and type of the lens put into eye is the major factor that effects success of the surgery.

Pediatric Ophthalmology

Pediatric Autorefractometer which is in used at our clinics is facilitated the examination of children. Look from meter distance to a disc with light is sufficient for the measurement. Routine examinations are required at newborn, 1 years and 3 years of age. For children who have eye disorders examinations for early diagnosis and treatment is very important.

Strabismus

Spoil age of paralel state of eyes when looking at a point is called strabismus. Causes of strabismus may be neglecting usage of eye glasses despite necessity, abnormality of muscles that move the eye, congenital and neurologic problems.

Sliding Patterns

  • In-Sliding (Esotropia)
  • Out-Sliding (Exotropia)
  • Down-Sliding (Hypotropia)
  • Up-sliding (Hypertropia)

Objectives of strabismus treatment are improving vision, fixing head position and double vision, obtaining eye movements and eliminating aesthetical complaints. Strabismus is treated with surgical methods.

Oculoplastic Surgery

Entropion and Ectropion (Inward or Outward-Turning Eyelids) , treating the wrinkles around the eyes, eliminating bags under the eye, operations of tear canal obstructions, eliminating deformations of eyelids due toc ongenital, senileortraumatic causes, prosthetic eye and treatment of eye tumors.
